Registration is now open for a two-day 18th century sewing workshop
with Henry Cooke of Historic Costume Services, held January 2- 3, 2027,
at The Art League in Alexandria, Virginia. As the country marks the
250th anniversaries of the Second Battle of Trenton and the Battle of
Princeton, both fought in January 1777, there's no better weekend to
take up needle and thread and learn to make the clothing that defined
the era.

Period garments were individually
fitted, making them nearly impossible to buy off the rack. This workshop
is built around your project, whatever stage of completion it's in:
bring a garment you've already started and need help finishing, or begin
something new with a kit coordinated through the instructor. Those new
to sewing and sewers trained in modern techniques are equally welcome.
Even if two days isn't enough to finish your project, you'll leave with a
partially constructed garment, the skills to complete it, and materials
to guide you afterward. The cost is $275 per participant, and you may
bring a second person if you're collaborating on the same garment.
Space
is limited so each student receives individual attention, making
registration first come, first served and closing on December 18, 2026.
Kits must be arranged separately with the instructor by November 6,
